I'm a huge bookworm, to be honest. I'd rather read a good book than watch TV, that's how much i love reading. How 'bout you??

These are some/most of my favorite authors that i can think of...
most likely i adore every book by them, so i won't list them all...

*Laurell K. Hamilton, Anne Rice, Marilyn Manson,
Jenna Jameson, Frost, Laurie Notaro, Melissa P.,
Augusten Burroughs, Stephen King, J.K. Rowling,
Edgar Allan Poe, V. C. Andrews, Dean Koontz,
Bram Stoker, Jemiah Jefferson, Richard Laymon,
J.T. LeRoy, Kim Harrison, Annette Curtis Klause,
Vladimir Nabokov, Bentley Little, Poppy Z. Brite...

Boris Vian, Lewis Caroll, Milan Kundera, Roland Barthes, Douglas Adams, William Shakespeare (sorry for the cliché, it's actually true, his writting's really amazing) and many more that I can't think of right now. Oh yes, there's also Gertrude Stein !

I'm everything except a bookworm but from the very few things I've read I absolutly loved Bret Easton Ellis, especially "Less Than Zero".
I also have to say "The Exquisite Corpse" by Poppy Z Brite.

Alexandre Dumas (he wrote some exellent short stories), Poppy Z Brite, Bret Easton Ellis, Amelie Nothomb, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, Edgar Allan Poe...
I also read Howl's moving castle by Diana Wynne Jones (the novel from which Miyazaki's film is inspired). I just simply looooved this book.

Actually, I read that book in english. Sometimes the translation makes the book sound very different. I can remember that awful translation of "Less than zero" and "rules of attraction" I read. crazy
And I'm a school teacher, so I'm used to reading childlike(?) literature : this was very good childlike literature.

Well I read the first when I was a kid and couldn't read english, and got used to it. I'd like to try one in english though, but import is quite expensive.
I usually read originals rather than translation, but finding the original books isn't always easy.
And about translations that radically change the book, I think Kundera's former frensh translations were quite an outstanding example !

I'm reading right now Nick Cave's "and the ass saw the angel" : brilliant and grotesque, a pure paraphernalia of southern gothic chaos... thing "The Night Of The Hunter" clashing with Hubert Selby Jr...

Really amazing book though i havent read it for years...

As for my fave authors/books, i really cant get over JG Ballard's "Crash" (the first time a book makes me feel this weird...you cant help but being attracted to this atmosphere...). A lot into Bret Easton Ellis, Samuel Beckett, Burroughs, Bradbury. Totally fell for "The Third Policeman" by Flann O Brien.

I'm so angry after myself for not reading enough...

Trainspotting is an amazing book, welsh is a great author.

Lately I've read Demon by Hubert Selby Jr. Easily one of the best book i've read in years. Highly recommended.

I also had this weird feeling while reading it. Really sick but also one of my favorite books. I also loved "IGH" by Ballard.

Well thats what is crazy about this book...i should have found it sick, but instead of that, i got struck by its beauty, its poetry even though Ballard uses pretty simple words, its just how he mixes it, flesh and metal, body and cars...it made me WANT to feel this as well, the hurt, the blood and the pleasure of keeping traces from it...this book just changed something inside me and from now on i dont know if i'll be able to read some more from Ballard...i hate being upset lol.

Ah books! I am addicted to them...I read a lot of shit but those just make me appreciate the pearls even more. And there is a whole sea of great literature out there. If I could I would write an ode to the joy of reading a good book... Here's some drops.

Just to mention few... I recommend to everybody..
"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" by Mark Haddon
"Life of Pi" by Yann Martel "God themselves" by Isaac Asimov
and by Paolo Coelho The Alchemist
From the stuff I recently have read I fell in love with "Dance dance dance" by Haruki Murakami and
Henry Millers "The Devil at Large".

I've also enjoyed good times with many authors mentioned earlier. Welsh I just found couple of years ago after yet again watching Trainspotting. Some names, like Ballard, were new to me... seems like I need to check it out!

Currently reading Millers "Stand Still Like The Humming Bird" and finnish writer Veikko Huovinen.

Yeah, I like wikipedia

I love the trilogy from Hermann Hesse :
-Demian (1919)
-Siddhartha (1922)
-Steppenwolf (1927)

Hermann Hesse (2 July 1877 – 9 August 1962) was a German-Swiss poet, novelist, and painter. In 1946, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. His best-known works include Steppenwolf, Siddhartha, and The Glass Bead Game (also known as Magister Ludi) which explore an individual's search for authenticity, self-knowledge and spirituality.

"The Magic Theatre for Madmen Only"...
