PostSubject: Tim Blake   Wed 9 Jan 2008 - 14:31

A sometimes forgotten pioneer of ambient electronics, Tim Blake is as important – at least for me – as Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze in the field of « space electronics ». His track “lighthouse” is in my opinion one of the best tracks ever recorded – either the original track on the “Blake’s new Jerusalem” record or the live version played by Hawkwind. Tim is actually better known for having played in the classic Gong line-up and later in Hawkwind (he’s still a member today), but his two first solo records are really perfect masterpieces of analog dream. If you’re into big analog synths, you MUST listen to this record. And, if it wasn’t enough, the guy has an eerie angel voice, not so far from Edward Ka-Spell from the Legendary Pink Dots – actually there are many similarities between them.

I just read it… Being an old-time Hawkwind and Tim Blake fan, I found it very interesting, but if you’re not familiar with Tim’s work, Hawkwind and Gong, well… First listen to the records ! (Anyway, some interesting – bitter but interesting – parts about Gong’s Daevid Allen.)
