L'uomo dell'armonica -

wow, I was nourrished by this kind of western movies as a child... I haven't watched a western movie since then. It's ... frakking weird, a song like that...so full of... memories? emotions? no I don't know.. ... havent heard this one in a very looooooong time, but it's such a classic, it's like a song that always existed.... timeless? o_O umn Shocked Crying or Very sad

(one day I'd like to be able to make my "music" like soundtracks of movies that don't exist, I think, I just could write a little script, and make music out of it.)

Roy Budd – The Wild Geese

Not his best work (to say the least), focusing mainly on military music of the worst kind. Might be efficient with the movie (probably some war flick, I guess), but there’s almost nothing to be listened to “by itself”.

Sadly, it seems last.fm is on the same way. Anyway, how would a track be as nervous and full of tension as Eno's Force Marker, I wonder.

Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band: "Old Time Rock and Roll"
Tangerine Dream: "The Dream Is Always the Same"
Tangerine Dream: "No Future (Get off the Babysitter)"
Tangerine Dream: "Guido the Killer Pimp"
Tangerine Dream: "Lana"
Muddy Waters: "Mannish Boy (I'm a Man)"
Jeff Beck: "The Pump"
Prince: "D.M.S.R."
Journey: "After the Fall"
Phil Collins: "In the Air Tonight"
Tangerine Dream: "Love on a Real Train (Risky Business)"

a very cult 80's soundtrack with the spacy & hypnotic tracks from Tangerine Dream, 2 hard hits by Bob Seger & Phil Collins & other tunes.
My favs are the Tangerine Dream tracks, Jeff Beck track & Prince track.
The movie is a a vicious pop corn film starring early Tom Cruise & Rebecca DeMornay.
The soundscapes & the vision of Chicago by the urban night in 1983 seems like a prediction of the next "Miami Vice" to come 1 year later.

Lots of these sound interesting... I wish I had more time. Currently listening to a "jazz noir" compilation of soundtracks, and Roy Budd's "the stone killer" (classic Roy Budd, which means, GREAT !)

Neil Hefti : Batman

Even if I wasn’t born when the Batman TV series were originally broadcasted, listening to this soundtrack tastes like childhood… Ah, those fighting scenes… Anyway, this is a nice piece of
A soundtrack, swinging, poppy, with some cool fuzz sometimes ; absolutely naïve, totally delightful. It sure lack the depth of “serious” works from that era, but don’t tell me you don’t like sweeties !

If you like the naïve feeling of 50’s/60’s soundtracks, somewhere between latin vibes, Gershwin and toon-like extravaganza, Esquivel’s music is for you ! If this was revivalism, it would be horribly, over-the-top-ly kitsch ; but Esquivel is the real thing, like it was played in those days, a swirling technicolor fantasy. Listening to this record makes you feel like Holy Golightly in the happy scenes of Breakfast At Tiffany’s…

Frak it, thanks Google (and the Gods of the Thirteen Colonies, yaknow) for this video.

Cause I love / admire / am a fan / etc of the soundtracks / the music of Bear McCreary, who was a student of Elmer Bernstein (The Ten Commandments, The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Heavy Metal, etc, etc). He scored the music for Battlestar Galactica and Terminator's Sarah Connor's Chronicles, among others (~ 30 movies, some tv series), and the way the music played this HUGE role in BSG, imho kinda redefined scoring, at least for TV (for all that i know about that, just 2 cents...), and the first time I hear some music like this, in the way it was used for the BSG tv Shows.. blablabla. This guy's awesome. So this is a speech from him at Google, and if you don't care enough to watch the 1:15 hour video, at least, take a look/glimpse at the end of the video, the last minutes, where they show a video of a song from a Live concert's where they play some of BSG music.
