The Mission (known as The Mission UK in the United States[1]) were a gothic rock band formed in 1986 from the splinters of the freshly-dissolved rock band The Sisters of Mercy.

It was started by frontman Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams (both of the Sisters), soon adding drummer Mick Brown (of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry) and guitarist Simon Hinkler (of Artery/Pulp). Aside from Hussey, the line-up has changed several times during the years, and the band has been dusted up from a state of dormancy once or twice.

The backbone of the band's catalogue consists of nine main albums (Gods Own Medicine, The First Chapter, Children, Carved in Sand, Masque, Neverland, Blue, Aura and God Is A Bullet) with several complementing albums, compilations and other miscellaneous releases also in existence.

It's cheesier than The Sisters, and some of it is bad goth metal, but there's realy great stuff here and there.

Lots of people hate "masque", but I still think there are some pretty good songs on this one. But actually that's the only Mission album I ever possessed Laughing

Well, I got no trouble with him... But It's true I don't like (at all) the Hussey era of the Sisters. I never got into First & Last...

I thought Hussey was in the very first Sisters line-up but I don"t know much about them apart from the songs.
I have a friend who is a real MissionHead, he passed me all his cds and all I could keep from all their work was TWO songs !!! : Wasteland and Stay With Me, and also a cover of Sister Ray but I'm not sure anymore, it might be by The Sisters ... I think Hussey sounds like Jim Kerr of Simple Minds most of the time and that's too much for my ears
