PostSubject: Rosa (Jazz Psyché Experimentale)   Sat 15 Dec 2007 - 14:02

PostSubject: Subarachnoid space (another psychedelic topic)   Thu 2 Jul 2009 - 20:12

Subarachnoid space – the red veil

Instrumental and improvised psychedelic rock, with a distinct post-rock feeling – somewhere between 70’s guitar-driven revivalism (Vocokesh-like) and a Godspeed You Black Emperor/Neurosis feeling. If you like your guitars dark, raucous and melting, you’ll like that ! The overall mood is quite apocalyptic, with some sudden bursts of violence, even Black Metal fans might get their kicks out of it (“ hey, I think I heard a blast-beat somewhere behind the feedback”) ; in my ears, this record just lacks a bit of focus and construction. But anyway, a band called “Subarachnoid Space” is an instant classic.

Subarachnoid space : delicate membrane

Compared to «Red Veil « , this one is a bit of a disappointment. Oh, it’s not bad, but maybe just a bit… too laid back. Rather conventional noisy-psychedelic jams, dark but relaxed, sounding a bit like the slower High Tide parts, in a way, but with a definite “cold-wave” approach, this is really music from the dark side, owing more to Chrome than Jefferson Airplane. But this record lacks the tension, the high-and-lows of “Red Veil”, and the drum playing is a bit too… Monolithic ? Yes, maybe monolithic, but then it’s a light-weight monolith. I wouldn’t say it doesn’t deserve the listen, but I wouldn’t say it deserves a second listen, if you’re not doing something else. Yeah, maybe too background-ish.

PostSubject: CAN [Krautrock/expé/psyché]   Wed 3 Feb 2010 - 18:10

source http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can_(groupe)

Communism Anarchism Nihilism

PostSubject: White Hills - (heavy psychedelic stuff)   Tue 6 Jul 2010 - 18:18

Not really good, but far from bad, if you dig heavy jamming psych rock, you might love it... My main concern would be the vocals, which I find a bit tedious. But great guitar parts !

Debut live performance of Black Reign........
asked a few people to play with me, recording isnt great, but not too bad. was originally planned as a 20min set, but we played for about 45min.
was lucky enough to get Timothy C. Holehouse on vocals & guitar, Arthur (kinda the other main member of Black Reign) on guitar, then Gabe (great drummer, can play along with anybody) on drums, with Joe (drummer from my punk/hardcore band) on a floor tom/extra cymbals.
i had my trusty fender jag, selection of pedals/effects, synth, oscilator, + control of the drum effects (mic'd the kit up & was adding reverb & feeding back the mic's)
im the guy kinda in thee middle of the stage with the tattoos, spent pretty much the whole performance with my back to the audience! i front a punk band & im sick of it, really liked taking more of a backseat visually......

Listen here: http://rsseizure.bandcamp.com/track/07-21-10

decided it was a good idea to stamp on my jags bridge & pups....... not sure how much damage ive done yet but just recently had a custom job done on it so bit gutted.....
